Minnesotans for a Fair Property Tax is dedicated to putting a stop to aggressive taxation by local governments and to fixing a property tax system that is flawed.

We advocate keeping property taxes affordable for all homeowners at all income levels.

As most people agree, tax increases that become unaffordable is an unfair practice and we are determined to eliminate this consequence of the property tax system.

Our mission is:

Keep property taxes affordable!

Hold property tax increases and keep property taxes affordable for all homeowners at all income levels.

The government should not decide how long you can live in your home.

Due to the wild speculation of the recent housing bubble, property values do not correspond with a property owner’s income or the real market value of the property.

The bank can’t change the terms of your mortgage just because your house has increased in value. Why should the government?

Every year, hundreds of hard working, tax paying, citizens - who have paid their mortgage, raised their children, supported their schools, police and fire departments, and have been a valuable part of the community for decades, are being forced from their homes because their property taxes exceed their ability to pay.

In many cases, homeowners are forced to pay 30% or 40% or even 50% or more of their household income for property taxes. Many homeowners pay more in property taxes than medical expenses.

According to Minnesota Department of Revenue data, property taxes have doubled across the state in the list few years and shows no sign of letting up.
